Points of Interest

After watching the Lynda.com video on content strategy a few things really stuck to me. From the video, I learnt that voice and tone produce content strategy. The voice helps to show the purpose of the organization, which should always be consistent. Whereas the tone varies depending on the context.

Another thing that I took away was when the speaker talked about audience profile, subject matter and desired outcomes. He said that when creating the tone that you should take into consideration the uniqueness of the target and then make the subject matter bring out an outcome.

Lastly, I learnt that identifying the holes in content is important. The content you post on your sites should always be consistent. Being consistent and recognizable is important so that when users go to your site, they know where to find what they are looking for.

What I will want to know

I will really love to learn more about content auditing and working with stakeholders because I got a bit confused when it came to that part. I just couldn’t make sense of the spreadsheet he had up.

Application

When working on my fictitious client’s website, I will make sure that the voice is consistent and recognizable to the user. One thing that I will really look at is my audience and then relates the content to them. I will make sure that my subject matter, the purpose of the websites brings forth the desired outcome.

I will also plan ahead and make sure that my expectations are met.
