This month, I will honestly say that curating did not come to mind, but I can say that I did put it into practice in some way. I created my projects not really knowing that curating was a thing, but now that I know and understand the essence of it, I know that it is important.
The articles made me realize that curating helps create better projects. It adds more value to your work, because when you know the quality of work you need, you create better. And I can say that if I understood it then, my projects would have been of better quality. When taking visuals for my projects, I put quality into consideration but always made quality more important. I guess I just believed that when you had more things to show, the work would just be better.
However, most of the visuals I took weren’t worth keeping. Although I thought that quality was better, I always deleted most of the contents once I was done with them. From this articles and looking back at what my instructors thought in class, I have decided to look into curation more. Like what Romney Whitehead said in his article, I will condition myself to take less content so I can create better quality and also bring out my creative side more.
I can’t say that curating resources enriched my MCBS experience in this class because like I said in the beginning I did not know it was a thing then.
Lastly, I will say that both authors are right to believe that curating is a better approach to create more quality content. They are coming from a time that they had to be careful with the number of visuals they took. The technology wasn’t as advanced as it is today, so they had to curate and know exactly what they wanted to create thus bringing better quality and expanding their creativity.
