The Sound Of The Story

For this activity, I decided to make some changes based on the feedback I received in my previous class and also on what I felt needed a change. I received feedback on my dialog and music audio. My classmates and instructor gave me advice on how I could bring the volume up a bit and also change the music track that I used. I tried looking for a music track that fit my story but I couldn't find any. Therefore I decided to stick with the one I had already chosen because I felt it added the emotional connection I needed and also possessed music drops that complemented the story.

Now when working on my audio, I found it very difficult. Because I had to bring the volume up a bit, it also ended up bringing a lot of background noise with it. I tried my best to remove the background noise but at the end, a whole lot was still left even after the noise reduction process but I believe I did do something to make it sound better.

I also worked on using compressor and equalizers to make those parts that sounded off seem better. I had a few pops and clicks in the audio after I increased the volume and I used some time to work on them. Although I will say that I did not exactly get all because I had difficulty working on them. Another area that I worked on when it came to audio was the sudden increase of phrases or words, which can also be called the dynamic range. For example, at the beginning of the video, the "I was" part seemed a little rushed and loud so I worked on that. Lastly, I worked on how the second part of the audio was disconnected from the first part. I used compression and the equalizer to make it sound like what it sounds like now. I am a bit happy with what I did but still know that it needs more work.

I also worked on the video component of the story. I gained feedback on maybe reshooting or adding more B-roll. I intended on doing that but my subject wasn't available till Sunday. I tried reshooting on Sunday but because of a few things that happened, I wasn't able to. This is why I put most of my concentration on the audio part for the submission. And lastly, I worked on the color correction of the video.
