Week 2: Professional Digital Presence

For this activity, I was asked to update my LinkedIn profile based on a check list and also update one additional social media platform to reflect my personal brand and sense of professionalism that would be attractive potential employers and clients. I was then asked to provide the links to those accounts and share on how I updated them.

This is an assignment that I really liked working on. From my classes and working on the activity, it made me understand how important Linkedin is. Even though I may not use it, it is important to have it there and updated because of the possibility of possible future employees researching on me there.

Because of this, I have decided that I will keep updating my Linkedin when I have projects that I can add or new ideas or experience for my Bio and experience.

So as I working on my Linkedin, i first focused on my headline and title. I saw that just saying “brand identity designer” wasn’t attention grabbing enough and that some people may not understand the job title. Therefore, I looked to break down the title and came up with words like communicator, brand strategist and designer, which I feel explain my profession more.

Secondly, I updated my summary to explain more on my job titles. Before it was just a small paragraph saying what I do but now it not only says that but reflects my personality and some of my values. I also added my skills in the summary for the purpose of it being “above the fold” to say. The summary is one of the first sections people go to and sometimes might probably be the only section.

After working on my profile, I updated my experiences to show the skills I used in each profession and roles. I am not completely done with updating my Linkedin account but I will say that I am pretty close. I will like to add some professional work projects which are still in production mode or need refining. I believe that adding these project will help reflect my skills and bring me closer to being hired.

Work on my writing skills is another thing that needs to be done, because most of the job descriptions i’ve seen require writing for working with social media and strategy. My design skills also need to be improved, which is something that I working on presently.

Lastly for this activity, I updated my Twitter and Instagram headlines to match up with my Linkedin headline.
